I knew this train would be coming to Colehour either today or tomorrow because I caught it about 25 miles away in Porter yesterday, and they have been doing more work here than there. I was waiting on the J local to come back since I didnt catch it this morning and a track Foreman came by the station, and told me and two foamers that the rail grinder would be coming through in about 40 minutes or so, and that it would stop grinding in Whiting and head into Colehour Yard to stay the night.

He also told us about a research train coming by this week, so I'm hoping it's the one with the red slug and not the two I got last year.

You know, I once saw one of these kinds of locomotives around here in TX, and I had no idea what it was because I had never seen anything like it before. Most of what I see are the BNSF and CN type engines that you post. So I'm curious, this is the second picture with one of these you've posted, and you've called it a rail grinder. What exactly does that mean? What kind of engine is this? What is it used for?

Ohh it's not your fault. It's not your mother's fault. Now...you pay attention to old Rooter. It is nobody's fault. The Great Circle of Life has begun. But you see, not all of us arrive together at the end.
