Winter Downs Ive been wanting to try taking the truck out in a burly snow storm since I bought it, and thats why I bought it in the first place. I would love to get some good winter shots in Otis, but theres no way I can pull that off and work the same day. But money talks, and I can probably pull off two hours of snow shots before work. This will be the first blizzard since the third worse Chicago blizzard in history on Feb 2, 2011, and the first major March snow storm since 2008. I cant help but think of two other blizzards that hit in March. Those in 1998 and 2002, they were pretty bad.
I'll start with 1998's when I was 10, I remember seeing lighting strike a pole down the street from me, and trapping me outside when the ice froze the storm door shut minutes after I just opened it. 2002's I railfanned in and got horribly sick from doing so. I did get great shots of conrail sd40's and J SD38's
I hope that this late season snow brings some much needed rain this spring to save crops and put on a excellent fall color show in october.
